CHI GONG: Chi gong is an ancient Chinese healing art that involves some breathing techniques and has many different varieties and forms.
Relaxation and calmness are two of the main aspects of this art. It functions as a medical exercise based on Chinese medicine and works on the channels, meridians and acupuncture points. It helps blood circulation and keeps the body in a good condition preventing illnesses. It helps to recover vital energy. There are a lot of styles of chi gong. Some of them are simple, and some more complicated. In our Association are taught the following chi gongs:
LIANGONG: 3 series of 18 therapeutic exercises (54 in total)
They involve neck, back, leg, joint and internal organ exercises. They strengthen the body help to get rid of stress and relieve muscular pain. It is suggested to all students, beginners and advanced, as it increases body flexibility and makes tai chi practice more enjoyable. These exercises have been created in 1945 by doctor Zhuang Yuan Ming and are a result of many years of studies on Chinese Medicine and body injuries. They involve slow stretches and breathing also the use of internal energy.
TAIJI CHI GONG: Creator of this Chi gong, is Grand Master Lin Hou Xing in Sangai - China.
This is a series of 18 easy exercises, beneficial for the internal organs with tai chi and chi gong elements. They are simple to follow and suitable for all ages. They can be learned as an introduction to Tai Chi Chuan.
DAYAN or Wild Goose Chi gong: Traditional 64 movements Chi gong form.
It has been created by Taoist school Kunlun. It has a very long and special history. It imitates the movements of a wild goose as it wakes up in the morning, flies away, shakes its wings, drink water and looks up to the sky. It’s useful for heart problems, rheumatism, high blood pressure, stomach disorders, and other illnesses. This Chi gong can be chosen to be learned with Liangong or Tai Chi chi gong, if you want to be trained only in Chi gong. Duration approx: 15 min.
WEI TUO CHI GONG: WEI TUO Chi gong is one of the chi gong systems that have been tought in Shaolin Temple.
It involves, breathing, movement and meditation and help to strengthen the internal energy in order to deal with stress tension and illness. It has soft and dynamic movements and it is constituted by 6 small parts that include: introduction, the crane, the eagle, the dragon, the tiger and meditation (Jing Kong stance). Duration approx: 30 minutes.
SOARING CRANE CHI GONG: This Chi gong form it imitates movements of the crane in flight.
Is easy and simple to learn and consists of 5 small parts. Its movements are calm and simple and help the concentration of the mind in some energy points on the body. All joints are exercised with a soft way. It is suggested for students who are beginners and advanced. Duration approx. 30 minutes
In our school, we only study one main form of chi gong per year.
