Huang Shan Daoing chi gong

Huangshan Daoist QI GONG exercises are gentle spiral exercises that engage the whole body with a focus on the lower dantian and spine. Mount Huangshan comes from one of the 5 sacred mountains of China. Exercises strengthen muscles, tendons, glands and internal organs, especially the reproductive organs. The most famous of the Daoist Qi gongs is the Swimming Smiling Dragon. The movements of this exercise are like a dragon wagging its tail to play in the water. The body rises and falls smoothly and at the same time swings left and right with the arms making a figure of eight in front of the body.

The ascents of the body are said to be like a “flying dragon ascending to the clouds” and the lowering are said to be like “a coiled dragon entering the sea”. The Chinese say that you are only as young as your spine, so with an emphasis on spine and dantian exercise, these Qigong exercises are effective in regulating the function of all internal organs and enhancing the body’s flexibility. They are also excellent for improving the overall circulation of qi and even a short daily practice will keep you energized.

Lydia Tillianaki has been trained on this qi gong by her Masters Karel & Eva Koskuba http://www.ciaa.org.uk/
